Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan found himself stuck in severe gridlock while inspecting the dilapidated condition of the Dhaka–Sylhet highway. After waiting for over an hour with no improvement, he eventually abandoned his motorcade and continued his journey on a motorcycle.

On Wednesday, October 8 morning, the adviser arrived at Bhairab Railway Station in Kishoreganj by train from Dhaka. From there, he set out by motorcade towards Sarail–Bishwa Road. However, upon reaching Sohagpur in Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria, his convoy became stuck in a long tailback.

When traffic failed to move even an inch after more than an hour, the adviser opted for an alternative. Leaving behind his convoy, he boarded a motorcycle and proceeded to his destination. The unexpected scene drew curiosity among police personnel and stranded commuters. Police officers rushed to clear the road, while many passers-by were seen capturing the moment on their mobile phones.

Confirming the matter, Ashuganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md Khairul Alam said, “Around 10:15 in the morning, Adviser Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan left Hotel Uzanbati in Ashuganj for Sarail. At Sohagpur, he got stuck in traffic and later continued his journey on a motorcycle.”

It is learnt that ahead of the adviser’s visit, temporary repair works were underway on the highway, including the filling of potholes with brick and sand. However, heavy rainfall and excessive traffic pressure worsened the situation, leaving the adviser himself a victim of the gridlock.
