Adviser Supradip meets Tripura people affected by fire
In order to inquire about the present condition of Tripura community people, Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma has visited Tangojhiri Notun Para at Sarai union under Lama upazila in Bandarban where homes of the Tripura community were torched on Tuesday night.
During the visit on Friday (December 27) afternoon, he exchanged views with the victims and those affected by the fire. Later, he distributed winter clothes, corrugated iron sheets and necessary furniture among the affected people.
Supradip said the interim government is working to ensure the safety of all the indigenous people and Bengalis of the Chattogram Hill Tracts. He also assured to set up police camps in the affected area for the sake of security.
He said, “No concession will be given to those who set fire to the houses of the Tripura community. All possible assistance will be provided to the affected people. Arrangements for allocation of new documents will be made immediately.”
Supradip Chakma also pledged to take necessary steps to ensure the safety, education, health, and water system of every citizen.
Some 18 families of the Tripura community have been living in the SP Bagan area of Tangojhiri Notun Para for a long time. On the evening of December 24, when the residents of the neighbourhood went to pray at a nearby church, 17 houses were completely burned down in a fire set by miscreants.
Police arrested four suspects on Thursday (December 26) in a case filed by the victim Gungramani Tripura. They are Stephen Tripura (50) and Moishoy May Tripura (48) of Sarai Purba Betchhara Para and Joating Tripura (52) and Md Ibrahim (65) of Tongjhiri Para.
