Advisers do not need safe exit: Asif Nazrul
Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has said that "Advisers do not need a "safe exit" — it is the nation that needs a safe exit from the current political and structural crisis."
He made the remark during a national consultation meeting on the National Human Rights Commission Ordinance-2025, held at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday (October 11).
"Many are talking about a safe exit for advisers. Let me be clear — we don’t need any safe exit. But the people need a safe exit from this destructive and corrupt state structure," said Asif Nazrul.
He added, “We’ve witnessed 55 years of misrule, extrajudicial killings, and the looting of public funds. It is this broken system that the nation must escape from.”
Other attendees at the event included Adilur Rahman Khan, adviser for Housing & Public Works and Industries, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Water Resources, Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman, SCBA President Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Representatives from various international organisations.
The meeting focused on enhancing the legal framework and independence of the Human Rights Commission in the context of the 2025 ordinance.
