Advisory Council approves draft of Referendum Ordinance

The Advisory Council has approved the draft policy of the Referendum Ordinance 2025. The approval was given on Tuesday, November 25, at a meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus. The meeting began at 11 am.

Earlier, on November 20, Law and Justice Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul said at a briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital that, based on the Chief Adviser’s announcement, the referendum would be held on the same day as the national parliamentary election. He said that the necessary legislation would be enacted next week to facilitate this.

In his address to the nation on November 13, Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus stated that the government was preparing to hold the thirteenth national parliamentary election in the first half of February. He also announced that a referendum would take place on the same day as the election.
