Advisory Council approves draft Telecommunication Network and Licensing Policy 2025
The Advisory Council has approved the draft of the Telecommunication Network and Licensing Policy 2025, aimed at reforming the country’s telecom sector.
The approval came at a meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Thursday (September 4), the Cabinet Division said in a press release.
However, details of the policy were not disclosed.
A review committee, formed on 20 July and headed by Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud, examined the draft before placing its recommendations.
The committee also included Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin, and Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, special Assistant to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
The council expressed gratitude to the committee for its prompt and comprehensive review.
In the same meeting, the council also approved the draft policy on Renewable Energy-Based Commercial Power Generation with Private Participation 2025 and gave in-principle and final approval to the draft of the International Crime (Tribunals) (Third Amendment) Ordinance 2025, subject to vetting by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department.
