Advisory Council approves Revenue Policy and Management Ordinance
The Advisory Council has granted both policy and final approval for the 'Revenue Policy and Revenue Management (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025'.
The approval was given during a Thursday meeting of the Advisory Council, chaired by the Interim Government’s Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
After the meeting, Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, briefed journalists at the Foreign Service Academy on the amendment.
Following the meeting, a press release from the Cabinet Division stated that, after vetting by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division, the draft of the 'Revenue Policy and Revenue Management (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025' has received final approval.
Following the issuance of the Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance, 2025 on May 12, NBR (National Board of Revenue) officers and employees staged protests for about a month and a half. By the end of June, operations at the country’s customs and tax offices had come to a standstill. The NBR staff eventually suspended the movement after mediation by business representatives.
Currently, the NBR is carrying out disciplinary measures, including dismissals and transfers, in response to the protest.
