Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, said that the government has already made a statement regarding the demand to ban the Awami League. He mentioned that there will be an emergency meeting of the Advisory Council tonight, where a proposed ordinance under the ICT Act will be discussed and a decision will be made.

He also stated that an investigation is ongoing into those involved in the departure of former President Abdul Hamid from the country. Action has already been taken against some, and others will also be brought under the law.

Shafiqul Alam attended the 42nd anniversary reunion of Patharapalli Unnayan Secondary School in Keshabpur of Jessore on Saturday, May 10.

Speaking to journalists afterward, he commented, "India is upset because fascism has fallen in Bangladesh. That’s why they have blocked the broadcast of some of our media outlets in their country. We don’t want to do the same. We’ve noticed for a long time that they spread propaganda against us. Indian media lacks responsible journalism. Instead, they shout and dramatize news as entertainment."

He added, "Our journalism is much more responsible and admirable. It is unfortunate that the Bangladeshi media channels blocked in India actually produce good news content."

Commenting on some media outlets, Shafiqul Alam said, “In the past, some media acted as tools of autocratic rulers and published false information. They took away the rights of the opposition. Many of them worked as tools of the Awami League. Now, we want our journalism to be responsible and commendable. This is good for the media itself, as political change is coming, and then you will be able to practice free journalism. Build your position from now.”

He also said, “We don’t believe in harassing anyone with legal cases. Are we filing cases? It’s the political parties who are doing that. Our government has said that actions should be taken against those involved only after proper investigation.”

The reunion event, held under the slogan "Let's Unite with the Call of the Heart, in the Bond of Harmony," was chaired by S.M. Rashidul Islam, a member of the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing and president of the school’s managing committee. Special guests included Jessore Deputy Commissioner Azaharul Islam, Police Superintendent Rownak Jahan, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council Asaduzzaman, and Keshabpur Upazila Executive Officer Reksona Khatun.

Former students joined the reunion with their families, along with current students, teachers, and local residents.
