Shamim Ahmed, also known as Shamim Molla, was a former student in the History Department from the university's 39th batch. On Wednesday, he was attacked by a mob and died hours later after being taken to the hospital.

Youth beaten to death at DU on theft suspicions
A youth was beaten to death in a "massive thrashing" at Dhaka University's Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall on the night of September 18, after being suspected of theft.

The deceased, Tofazzal, was mentally unstable and was from Kathaltali Union in Patharghata, Barguna.
