Indian funded projects to continue: Finance Adviser
Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed reaffirmed on Tuesday that Indian line of credit (LoC) projects will continue, underscoring their importance for Bangladesh’s development.

“These are significant projects, and we will continue them,” Dr Salehuddin said after a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, at the Finance Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

Emdad Ul Bari appointed new BTRC chairman
Major General (retd) Md Emdad Ul Bari has been appointed as the new Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

His appointment was announced in a notification signed by ATM Shariful Alam, deputy secretary of the public administration ministry, on Tuesday (September 10).

Petrobangla office comes under attack
Protests escalated as a group of Titas workers engaged in vandalism at the Petrobangla office in Dhaka's Karwanbazar in an attempt to obstruct the new MD's appointment on Tuesday morning.

A group of officials and employees made vandalism in the head office of Petrobangla at Karwan Bazar in the capital. After staging demonstration for an hour, they left the place.

One held for allegedly inciting garment workers in Netrokona
Police arrested Chhatra League leader Istiaq Ahmed Hridoy, the alleged instigator of industrial instability through sabotage and conspiracy in the garment sector.

Netrokona District Police arrested him on Monday, according to police headquarters.

In a video which surface in social media, he was seen instigating the unrest in the export-oriented garment sector by inciting garment workers to engage in looting and take to the streets.

34 districts get new DCs
The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) for 25 districts including Rajshahi, Tangail, Kishoreganj and Barishal.

A notification in this regard has been issued from the Field Administration branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday.

Midnight clash erupts at Shah Paran shrine
A bloody clash erupted on Monday midnight at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) in Sylhet between supporters of Ors and local clerics and people.

Sporadic clashes continued from 2:30am to 4:00am on Monday (September 9), injuring 30 to 35 people on both sides.

Injured youth killed inside hospital in row over Swechchhasebak Dal leader murder
Two youths including a Swechchhasebak Dal leader have been killed in a conflict between two groups over establishing supremacy in Bogura.

Swechchhasebak Dal leader Mizanur Rahman Mizan was hacked to death in Gokul area of Bogura town.

Later, miscreants beat another youth Salman Hussain Lado to death entering the emergency department of Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) around 11:30pm on Monday (September 9).

US eager to work with Yunus-led interim govt

The United States has stressed that the country is eager to work with the Professor Yunus-led interim government.

"We continue to be ready and eager to work with interim government that’s led by Dr Muhammad Yunus as it charts its democratic future for the people of Bangladesh," Deputy Principal Spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters at a regular briefing in Washington on Monday (September 9).

Committee formed to probe S Alam, Salman F Rahman’s stock manipulation
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has formed a committee to investigate the market involvement and activities by Saiful Alam, popularly known as S Alam, and Salman F Rahman – owners of controversial conglomerate S Alam Group and Beximco Group, respectively.

The probe to determine potential market manipulations will also cover the wealth of family members of the two influential business tycoons of the previous Awami League regime, said a press release.

New principals appointed to 21 govt colleges
The government has appointed new principals in 21 government colleges across the country, including six in Dhaka.

At the same time, seven senior officials, including the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) secretary and two other members have been transferred.

According to a notification issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education of the Education Ministry on Monday (September 9), the colleges include Government Titumir College, Govt Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls' College, Government Bangla College, and Eden Mohila College.

2 policemen arrested in connection with Abu Sayeed's murder
Rangpur Metropolitan Police has arrested two policemen accused of killing Abu Sayeed, a student of English Department of Begum Rokeya University, during the July movement of Students Against Discrimination.

The arrestees are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Ali and constable Sujan Chandra Roy. They have been handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

PBI Police Superintendent Md Zakir Hossain confirmed this to the media.

India’s probable playing XI for 1st Test against Bangladesh
