Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said that the spread of false information on social media and the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will pose a new challenge in the upcoming elections.

He made these remarks on Saturday (July 26) while addressing journalists at the Khulna regional election officer's office, ahead of a meeting with election and administrative officials.

In response to a question regarding the election date, the CEC said, "I have mentioned multiple times that I have no more information than what you already have. Whatever is being published in the media, the same idea I have. When we officially announce the election date, you will know the submission deadlines for nominations, the date for withdrawals, the date for appeals, the symbol allocation date, and all other important dates. You will know these details at least two months before the election date."

Regarding the overall law and order situation in the country after the people's uprising, Nasir Uddin said, "After such a mass uprising, we are in a much better state than we were supposed to be. I believe by the time the election date arrives, everything will be further improved. I see this as a major challenge, but I am confident we will overcome it."

When asked about the PR system, he said, "Our job at the Election Commission is to conduct an election. Politicians will decide what the constitution and laws should be. As long as the constitution and laws remain unchanged, we will proceed with preparations based on the old rules, which is expected and normal."
