Aircraft hits dog on runway at Cox’s Bazar airport, flight delayed
A dog was killed on the runway at Cox’s Bazar Airport after being hit by a US-Bangla Airlines flight on Thursday evening (November 6), causing a one-hour delay.
The incident took place at 6:35pm before BS 158, carrying 70 passengers to Dhaka, was about to take off.
The pilot noticed the impact and returned the plane to parking for inspection. After confirming no damage, the flight departed at 7:31pm and landed safely around 8:30pm in Dhaka.
Airport Director Golam Murtaza said the dog was promptly removed and runway operations resumed. No damage to the aircraft was reported, and passengers remained safe. He noted that dogs often enter the runway from the west side due to nearby construction and poor lighting in the evening, and authorities have increased precautions.
A similar incident had occurred at the airport on August 2, when a plane also hit a dog before takeoff.
