National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain has filed a case against Awami League activists who harassed him and threw eggs at him in New York.

According to local time, the case was filed at 1am on Wednesday at the Port Authority Police Department near John F Kennedy Airport, New York, 11am Thursday Bangladesh time. Akhtar Hossain disclosed the matter in a video message posted on the official Facebook page of NCP on Thursday, September 25.

It has been learnt that the case named two individuals, along with 15 to 20 unidentified persons. Akhtar alleged that even after the attack that day, attempts were made to harass him inside the airport lobby and elsewhere.

In his video message, Akhtar Hossain said, “After the attack at the airport, this evening Awami terrorists again came to the hotel lobby with the intention to attack. At that time, NCP members residing in the United States and my well-wishers resisted them and contacted the police. Later, the police investigation officer advised us to file a case. Accordingly, I went to the nearest police station by the airport. We have filed a case against those who attacked us that day, attempted to kill us, and issued threats.”

On Monday, BNP and NCP leaders accompanying Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus to the United Nations session in New York were harassed at the airport. Leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its associate organisations surrounded them, chanted slogans against Yunus, hurled abuse, and threw eggs at Akhtar Hossain.
