AL loyalists inside administration: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that Awami League loyalists are embedded within the administration.

He made the remarks on Saturday, September 27 at 11:30am after visiting Md Dolon Bhuiyan, former president of Bhulta Union Chhatra Dal, who was injured in an Awami League attack in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

Rizvi said even ordinary BNP activists are not spared from attacks by Awami “terrorists”. He alleged that Awami loyalists are wreaking havoc under the shelter of the administration, seizing sand markets and ferry terminals for business, while the authorities remain silent. “The criminals’ photos have been published in newspapers, yet no action has been taken. It seems the Awami League itself is inside the administration,” he said.

Directing his words at Sheikh Hasina, Rizvi added: “She carried out all misdeeds with just four people. Her adviser Tarique Siddique once suggested killing some people — such advice is unimaginable in any civilised country. Sheikh Hasina even said bombs should be dropped from helicopters if necessary. For years the country was run by someone with such a bloodthirsty mentality.”

He alleged that Sheikh Hasina’s government killed children and around 1,400 people to cling to power. “The people of Bangladesh no longer want to see such repetition.”

Calling for swift action, Rizvi said the administration must take responsibility for the attack on Dolon Bhuiyan and arrest the perpetrators. “If another such incident occurs, the Narayanganj administration will be held accountable. And if an influential person is behind it, even if he is from BNP, we will take action.”
