Ali Riaz calls on political parties to lead reform efforts for an accountable state

Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice President of the National Consensus Commission, has called on political parties to play a crucial role in rebuilding an accountable state through reforms.

Speaking on Monday morning (May 12) before starting a dialogue with the Democratic Left Alliance at the LD Hall of the National Parliament, Dr. Riaz noted that the ambition to establish a democratic state has repeatedly failed over the past 53 years. In light of the 2024 uprising, he emphasized the need for collective action to achieve this goal, describing it as a critical opportunity to create a truly accountable state.

During the discussion, leaders of the Democratic Left Alliance voiced their support for reforms but stressed that these should be rooted in socialist principles. They argued that socialism is essential for securing the rights of the country's working class.
