Ali Riaz urges political unity for national certificate formation

Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Unity Commission, has called on all political parties to unite in the creation of the national certificate, emphasizing the need for cooperation similar to the unity seen during recent movements. He also appealed for leniency and flexibility from the parties involved.

Speaking ahead of the sixth day of the second round of discussions with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday, Dr. Riaz said the success of the national certificate depends on collective efforts.

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Riaz, saw participation from 32 political parties. Five critical topics were outlined for discussion: the fundamental principles of the state, the election system for the upper house of the bicameral parliament, the formation of the National Constitutional Council (NCC), the presidential election process, and women’s representation.

Despite earlier talks, political parties have yet to reach consensus on these issues.
