Alia madrasa principal hospitalised after being injured in student clash
The principal of Government Alia Madrasa in the capital, Mahmud Obaidul Haque, has been injured during clashes between activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
He has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
The incident took place on Tuesday (4 August) afternoon, when repeated clashes broke out on the madrasa campus.
Teachers and students later rescued the injured principal and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 5:00pm.
Hospital sources said Mahmud Obaidul Haque is currently receiving treatment in Ward No. 4 of the hospital's emergency department.
Earlier on Tuesday, clashes erupted between activists of Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir over a programme marking the July Mass Uprising at Jagannath University.
The unrest later spread to different parts of the capital, including the area surrounding Government Alia Madrasa.
