All banks to remain closed on February 11-12 due to 13th national elections

All scheduled banks operating across the country are set to remain closed on February 11 and 12 on the occasion of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections and referendum.

Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Sunday.

The circular stated that in line with a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on January 25, government holidays have been declared on February 11 and 12 in observance of the election and referendum.

Accordingly, all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh will remain closed on those two days, it added.

Bangladesh Bank issued this directive under the Bank Company Act.

However, according to relevant sources, limited banking services may remain operational on an emergency or special-need basis, subject to further instructions from the central bank.
