All leaders and activists, including the convenor of the upazila committee of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Jurachhari upazila, Rangamati, have resigned en masse. Eighty-seven activists of the NCP took the decision to resign en masse through a special meeting held on Monday afternoon. Later, the resignation letters were sent to the Rangamati district committee.

Ashim Chakma, a member of the Rangamati district committee and convenor of the Jurachhari upazila committee, confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday.

Upazila committee joint convenor Debashish Chakma said, "The Rangamati district committee approved the Jurachhari upazila committee for six months on January 1. But due to recent political decisions, we have collectively decided to resign."

He further said, "We joined the NCP with the goal of a new political settlement and building a new Bangladesh, cherishing the ideals of the July mass uprising. However, by forming an alliance with major political parties in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the NCP has deviated from its identity and ideology. For this reason, the party's current position does not align with our ideals. Therefore, we are stepping down from all organisational activities."

Ashim Chakma further stated, "In the current situation, it is no longer possible for us to uphold those ideals. Hence, we are resigning from all organisational positions, including as members of the Rangamati district convening committee and convenor of the Jurachhari upazila committee of the National Citizen Party."
