The Meteorological Department has asked all seaports in Bangladesh to hoist local cautionary signal number 2.

This information was given in a forecast signed by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque on Friday (November 28).

The forecast said that Cyclone Ditwah, which is located in the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Sri Lanka coast, is moving north-northwestwards and is located in the Sri Lanka coast and the adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal area (8.2° north latitude and 81.1° east longitude).

At 6 am on Friday, it was located 1955 km southwest of Chittagong Seaport, 1900 km southwest of Cox's Bazar Seaport, 1845 km southwest of Mongla Seaport and 1840 km southwest of Payra Seaport. The Meteorological Department said that it may move further in a north-northwesterly direction.

The maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone center is 62 km per hour, which is increasing to 88 km in the form of gusts or squalls. The sea is very rough in the area near the cyclone center.

In this situation, the sea ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist distant warning signal number 2. In addition, fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay of Bengal have been asked not to venture into deep sea until further orders.
