Allegation of gang rape of mother after tying up son in Mymensingh, cash and gold ornaments looted
Police have arrested a youth named Rajib on allegations of gang-raping a mother after tying up her school-going son following entry into a house in Gafargaon of Mymensingh. There are also allegations of looting cash of Tk 5 lakh and gold ornaments from the house.
The incident took place at the house of a Saudi expatriate in Charmachland Kalibarichar village of Charalgi union under the upazila around 8:30pm on Thursday (September 17).
According to the allegations, five youths named Sharif, Arif, Rajib, Fahim and Enamul went to the house that night. They called the housewife’s school-going son outside from the room on the pretext of giving food and water. After he came outside, he was tied up by showing the threat of arms. Later, keeping him tied inside the dwelling house, Sharif and Arif raped the housewife by turns. Sharif and Arif are two brothers in relation. At that time Rajib recorded a video of the incident.
After the rape the accused took away cash of Tk 5 lakh, one gold chain and two pairs of earrings that were in the house. After they left, neighbours came forward hearing the screams of the victims and informed the police.
Getting the information, police of Gafargaon Police Station went to the spot and launched an operation. On Friday morning an operation was conducted in the area beside a government primary school in Charkalibari village about one kilometre away from the scene and the accused were surrounded. At that time four fled but police arrested Rajib.
Police informed that Rajib had thrown the mobile phone used for recording the rape video into water. Police later recovered it.
The victim woman has filed a complaint at Gafargaon Police Station naming five as accused. Her brother-in-law has demanded proper justice of the incident.
Officer-in-Charge of Gafargaon Police Station Moniruzzaman said the victim woman has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for medical examination. One person has been arrested and the legal process is under way.
