Miscreants set fire to an ambulance parked in front of the Kishoreganj Civil Surgeon Office amid the Awami League-announced “complete shutdown” programme. The incident took place at around 4.30am on Monday November 16. Upon receiving the information, a unit of the Kishoreganj Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. By then, the ambulance had been completely burnt. No one was injured. Fire Service station officer Abdullah Khalid said they reached the spot immediately after receiving the information, but most of the ambulance had already been burnt by the time they arrived.

আওয়ামী লীগের ডাকা কমপ্লিট শাটডাউনকে কেন্দ্র করে কিশোরগঞ্জ সিভিল সার্জনের কার্যালয়ের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা একটি অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে আগুন দিয়েছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। সোমবার (১৭ নভেম্বর) ভোর সাড়ে ৪টার দিকে কিশোরগঞ্জ সিভিল সার্জনের কার্যালয়ের সামনে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। জানা যায়, ভোর সাড়ে ৪টার দিকে কিশোরগঞ্জ সিভিল সার্জনের কার্যালয়ের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা একটি অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে আগুন দেয় দুর্বৃত্তরা। খবর পেয়ে কিশোরগঞ্জ ফায়ার সার্ভিসের একটি ইউনিট দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনলেও অ্যাম্বুলেন্সটি সম্পূর্ণরূপে পুড়ে যায়। এ অগ্নিকাণ্ডে কোনো হতাহতের খবর পাওয়া যায়নি। কিশোরগঞ্জ ফায়ার সার্ভিসের স্টেশন অফিসার আব্দুল্লাহ খালিদ বলেন, ‘আমরা খবর পাওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনার চেষ্টা করি। তবে পৌঁছানোর আগেই অ্যাম্বুলেন্সের বড় অংশ পুড়ে যায়।’ কিশোরগঞ্জ সদর মডেল থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আব্দুল্লাহ আল মামুন বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে জানান, প্রাথমিকভাবে আগুন লাগার কারণ জানা যায়নি। দুর্ঘটনার সময় অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে কোনো রোগী ছিল না। পুলিশ বিষয়টি খতিয়ে দেখছে।
