Amit Shah orders strict action against illegal Bangladeshis
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered strict action against the network that helps Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators enter India illegally, obtain documents and settle. He directed the concerned authorities to take action in this regard on Thursday, Indian news agency ANI reported.
Amit Shah gave the instructions after a high-level meeting with newly-elected Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Ashish Sood, and Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on the law and order situation in Delhi.
The meeting was held on Thursday for the first time in a decade in the presence of the Delhi Chief Minister. In the meeting, Amit Shah said that the issue of illegal infiltrators is related to India's national security and it should be dealt with strictly. At the same time, he also directed to identify and repatriate illegal infiltrators.
The meeting was organized a few days after the inauguration of Rekha Gupta, a BJP MLA elected from Delhi's Shalimar Bagh. Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi's fourth woman Chief Minister on February 20.
A statement from the Indian Home Ministry, quoting Amit Shah, said that strict action has been ordered against the entire network of Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators entering the country, preparing their documents and arranging their residence. The issue of illegal infiltrators is related to national security, it should be dealt with strictly. Illegal infiltrators must be identified and repatriated.
At the meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah said that as per the expectations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi's double engine government will work at double speed to make Delhi a developed and safe place.
