Amnesty calls for probe into attacks on ‘AL men’ at Zero point
Amnesty International has called for a prompt and impartial investigation into Sunday’s attack on several individuals perceived to be members of the Awami League at the capital’s Zero Point.
Those responsible must be held accountable, the UK-based international human rights organization said in a statement released Tuesday by Amnesty International's South Asia Regional Office on X (formerly Twitter).
“Attacking people for their political beliefs is a violation of their right to freedom of expression and association and authorities must take action to protect and foster these rights of all people, regardless of their political affiliations”, Amnesty said in the statement.
“Authorities must swiftly and impartially investigate and hold accountable, perpetrators of the attacks”, it added.
