An organization has become an obstacle to Cox’s Bazar’s development: State Minister

Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, has alleged that an organization is creating obstacles in the tourism and development activities of Cox’s Bazar. He alleged that after various development projects and plans are taken up the organization approaches the court and later development work is obstructed by using the court order.

The state minister said these words while talking to journalists after inspecting the integrated waste management centre of Ukhiya’s number 4 extended Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar at noon on Saturday.

Mir Shahe Alam said the government is in a kind of danger regarding Cox’s Bazar. An organisation has practically become an obstacle in tourism and development activities. Whenever any development project or plan is taken up they approach the court. Later development work is repeatedly obstructed by using the court order unfairly.

He said Cox’s Bazar is an important address of the country’s tradition and identity. The process of upgrading Cox’s Bazar municipality to a city corporation is ongoing with the aim of transforming this area into an international standard tourism centre. However, he also alleged that various conspiracies have been going on for a long time so that tourism and development of Cox’s Bazar do not flourish.

At that time Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency Member of Parliament Lutfur Rahman Kajol, Chattogram-14 constituency Member of Parliament Jasim Uddin Ahmed and senior officials related to the ministry, administration and project were present.

Earlier in the morning the state minister inspected the integrated waste management project at the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya. He visited various activities of the project and talked with concerned officials.

At that time he said the integrated waste management centre is a modern and environment-friendly project. The government has various plans to take the activities of producing fertiliser and electricity from daily waste to a larger scale.
