Andaleeve Rahman Partho unofficially elected
Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, BNP alliance candidate and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) chairman, has been unofficially elected in the Bhola-1 (Sadar) constituency after defeating the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate by a huge margin. He has been elected member of parliament from this important district seat for the second time. He was previously elected MP from the same constituency in 2008.
According to preliminary results from the Assistant Returning Officer's office, Andaleeve Rahman Partho, contesting with the bullock cart symbol, received 1,04,462 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Principal Nazrul Islam, received 73,773 votes. Additionally, Islami Andolan candidate Maolana Obaidur Rahman received 15,091 votes.
The results have been confirmed based on information announced by the Assistant Returning Officer's office.
The Bhola-1 constituency remained intensely competitive from the start of the election. Jamaat-e-Islami had hoped to secure victory for the first time. However, although the contest intensified on the electoral battlefield, the party could not ultimately secure victory.
