Hospital sources said the patient was also suffering from other complications in addition to measles symptoms.

Assistant Director (Administration) of MMCH, Muhammad Mainuddin Khan, confirmed the development on Friday morning. He said three-year-old Abdullah was admitted to the hospital on April 2 with measles symptoms. The child was the son of Md. Roni and Arifa Akter of Jamtala Mor area in Mymensingh city.

He added that since March 17, a total of 344 children have received treatment at the hospital with measles infection. Of them, 262 have recovered and returned home, while 10 have died. Currently, 72 children are undergoing treatment.

Associate Professor Dr. Golam Mawla of MMCH said many children are arriving with measles alongside complications such as pneumonia and diarrhea. A dedicated unit has been set up on the 8th floor of the new hospital building to manage the surge.

He also warned that measles is a highly contagious viral disease, spreading rapidly through coughing, sneezing, and close contact, urging increased public awareness to contain the outbreak.
