Another devotee dies at Tongi Bishwa Ijtema, total now 6

Another devotee died during the ongoing five-day Tongi Bishwa Ijtema on Monday afternoon (December 1).

His death at 2:20pm marks the sixth casualty over the past four days of the religious gathering.

The deceased, Azizur Rahman, 72, was a resident of Dewpura village of Gomastapur upazila in Chapainawabganj.

Habibullah Raihan, media coordinator of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh’s Shurai Nizam, confirmed that Rahman suffered a sudden stroke near the field’s weighing area and passed away on the spot.

The five-day Tongi Ijtema began on November 28 and will conclude with a final prayer session on December 2. Next year, the global Ijtema is scheduled after the national elections.
