Another student succumbs to burn injuries from jet crash
A 13-year-old student of Milestone School and College, Makin, who was critically injured in the recent plane crash, has died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Doctors confirmed his death around 1:00 PM on Friday. According to Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, Resident Surgeon at the institute, Makin had suffered burns over 70 percent of his body.
Earlier the same day, another student named Ayman, also injured in the crash, died around 9:30 AM. Ayman, a resident of Bhedarganj in Shariatpur district, had sustained burns on 45 percent of his body.
As of 10:00 AM Friday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that the death toll from the incident had risen to 32, with 51 others still receiving treatment at various hospitals. With Makin's death now the death toll now stands to 33.
Previously, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed 31 deaths as of noon on Tuesday. Later that night, one more victim died at the burn institute, bringing the toll to 32, which was reflected in media reports.
In an official statement issued Thursday evening at 6:20 PM, Milestone School and College confirmed that the crash had claimed the lives of 20 students, two teachers, and two guardians associated with the institution.
