Another suspect arrested in Azmul murder case

Special Response Battalion (SRB)-6 has arrested another suspect in the murder case of university student Azmul in Khulna, taking the total number of arrests in the case to four.

SRB-6 Commander Lt Col Nistar Ahmed confirmed the arrest on Wednesday (September 23).

He said a joint team of SRB-6, its Special Company and the Bhatiapara Camp conducted a raid at Bhatiapara Golchattar in Kashiani, Gopalganj, around 2:30am on Wednesday following a tip-off.

The team arrested Sheikh Asif Hossain, 28, an accused in the case. He is the son of Sheikh Miraj of Sanatankathi area in Paikgacha upazila of Khulna.

After the operation, Asif was handed over to police at Harintana Police Station under Khulna Metropolitan Police for further legal action, the SRB commander said.

The murder case was filed at Harintana Police Station over the killing of university student Azmul. Three other suspects had previously been arrested in the case.
