Ansar member killed, 22 injured in bus crash after poll duty
An Ansar member was killed and 22 others injured when a bus carrying election duty personnel overturned on the Karnaphuli Tunnel road.
The accident took place around 1:00am at the Chourasta intersection on the Chattogram–Karnaphuli Tunnel road on Thursday (February 12).
The bus, carrying 23 members returning from Satkania after election duty, lost control at the Chourasta intersection and flipped after hitting a roadside railing.
The deceased was identified as Md Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Ullapara upazila. He was posted at Meghna Petroleum Limited in Patenga. He died on the spot.
Of the injured, three are being treated in the ICU and seven in the HDU at Chattogram BNS Hospital. The others received primary treatment.
Director General of Ansar and Village Defence Party Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud expressed deep condolences over the death and directed authorities to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.
