Nationalization of jobs
Ansar members stage protest, block road in front of Press Club
Thousands of General Ansar members have staged a major protest in Dhaka today, demanding the nationalization of their jobs. The demonstration has led to roadblocks in front of key locations including the Secretariat and the Press Club.
The protest began early this morning with Ansar members gathering at several locations, including the GPO intersection, in front of the Food Directorate, and near the Press Club and Secretariat. The demonstrators chanted slogans and displayed banners calling for the nationalization of their positions.
Participants in the protest have come from various parts of the country, and the scene was marked by a significant presence of army personnel.
Kalam Gazi, an attendee of the protest, said, "We have undergone extensive training, including in weapon handling, and are responsible for providing armed security at public and private establishments. Following the withdrawal of police forces on August 5, we have been tasked with guarding all establishments and police stations nationwide. Despite our significant contributions, we have faced long-standing discrimination, and our jobs have not been nationalized. We are now demanding this change through our movement."
The demonstration reflects growing frustration among Ansar members, who argue that their roles and contributions are not being adequately recognized or formalized.
