Ansar to be deployed to strengthen security at Hatirjheel: State Minister
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam has said that Ansar personnel will be deployed at Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area to enhance security amid rising concerns over snatching incidents.
Speaking after inspecting ongoing cleanliness operations at Hatirjheel on Saturday morning (June 20), the minister said the initiative aims to restore the area to its earlier condition.
He added that the deployment will be arranged through the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) to improve overall security management in the area.
RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md Riazul Islam also said efforts are underway to restore Hatirjheel’s lighting system and aesthetic environment. “The cleanliness drive must be completed quickly. The Prime Minister has given one week for the task,” he said, adding that additional manpower will be deployed if needed to complete the work on time.
He further noted that measures are being taken to prevent sewage leakage and floating waste in the lake as part of the ongoing restoration efforts.
