Ansar, VDP playing key role in technology, employment generation: PM
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy is contributing not only to national security duties but also to technology development and job creation at home and abroad.
He made the remarks while addressing the 46th National Assembly of Ansar and Village Defense Forces (VDP)-2026 at the academy auditorium in Gazipur on Wednesday (May 20).
The Prime Minister said Ansar members are working continuously to protect critical infrastructure across the country, from rural areas and urban centres to remote hill regions, while also playing a role in maintaining law and order during periods of instability and crisis.
He added that the force has contributed to restoring peace and supporting communities during disasters, earning recognition as a disciplined and independent security force.
Highlighting broader roles, he said Ansar personnel are also involved in employment generation initiatives and skill development programmes, including freelancing and field-level activities involving thousands of members.
He noted that these efforts are helping strengthen social trust and improve community engagement.
The Prime Minister said initiatives such as welfare programmes and online platforms under Ansar welfare schemes are also supporting skill development and overseas employment opportunities for trained manpower.
Earlier in the morning, he attended a parade at the Yad Ali Parade Ground of the academy as chief guest before joining the main programme and interacting with Ansar members regarding their operational challenges across districts.
