Appellate Division approves BNP’s Aslam Chowdhury candidacy for Chattogram-4
The Appellate Division has upheld Aslam Chowdhury’s eligibility to participate in the upcoming Chattogram-4 parliamentary election.
A bench of the Appellate Division headed by the Chief Justice passed the order on Tuesday (February 3), following a leave-to-appeal petition filed by a bank challenging the Election Commission’s earlier decision declaring Chowdhury’s nomination papers valid.
However, the court ordered that the final announcement of the constituency’s results will remain suspended until the ongoing appeal is resolved.
During the hearing, Chowdhury was represented by Advocate Ahsanul Karim, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol, Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Khan, and Barrister Kazi Akhtar Hossain. The opposing side was represented by Advocate Mohammad Hossain Lipu and Advocate Azim Uddin Patowari.
