Arakan Army abducts 7 fishermen from Naf River in Teknaf
The Arakan Army of Myanmar has abducted 7 Bangladeshi fishermen while they were fishing in the estuary of Naf River in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
They were abducted along with two engine-powered fishing boats from the sea border adjacent to Shahparir Island around 9am on Monday (June 15).
The abducted fishermen are Syed Alam, Syedur Rahman, Md. Faisal, Abdul Jalil, Md. Azam, Md. Helal and Azam Ullah.
Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S. M. Anik Chowdhury confirmed this information. He said, I have heard about the abduction of the 7 fishermen. They are all residents of different areas of Shahparir Island in Teknaf. Initiatives will be taken to bring them back.
In this regard, Abdul Mannan, a member of Ward No. 7 of Shahparir Dwip Union, said that the matter of the capture of 7 fishermen from the mouth of the Naf River has been reported to the relevant authorities.
