Arakan Army yet to release 4 abducted Bangladeshi fishermen
The Arakan Army (AA) has yet to release four Bangladeshi fishermen abducted from the Naf River estuary in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
Six days have passed since their capture, but the fishermen remain in the custody of the Arakan Army, leaving their families in deep anxiety.
The abducted fishermen are Mohammad Hasan, 30, the boat captain, along with Abdu Rakim, 20, Md Jaber, 26, and Mohammad Hasan, 16—all residents of Shah Porir Dwip, in Teknaf’s Sabrang union.
They were taken last week while fishing in the Naf River.
Nura Nahar Begum, the wife of Mohammad Hasan, expressed her fears, saying: “My husband and three other fishermen from Shah Porir Dwip have been held captive by the Arakan Army for six days now. They have not been released yet. We have lost contact with them for the past two days. We are extremely worried.”
Sheikh Ahsan Uddin, the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Teknaf, said: “Law enforcement agencies are actively working on the matter. We hope the detained fishermen will return home soon.”
