Armed forces join efforts to extinguish fire at Dhaka airport
Members of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, Fire Service and Civil Defence, two firefighting units of the Bangladesh Air Force, along with personnel from the Bangladesh Army and Navy, have joined the operation to douse the fire at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) confirmed the information in a brief statement on Saturday, October 18.
According to sources from the Fire Service and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the fire broke out at around 2:15 pm. The Fire Service was informed at 2:30 pm, and four units headed towards the airport at 2:34 pm. Eventually, a total of 36 units reached the site and have been working to bring the blaze under control.
