Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman has left for the United States on an official visit, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. He departed Dhaka for the US on Saturday, March 28. During the visit, he will accept a resolution honouring the contribution of Bangladeshi peacekeepers to UN peacekeeping missions, organised by the Georgia State Capitol. He will also attend a special lecture at the Senate Chamber and hold bilateral meetings with relevant US representatives.

সরকারি সফরে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র গেছেন জেনারেল ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান। এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে আন্তঃবাহিনী জনসংযোগ পরিদপ্তর (আইএসপিআর)। আইএসপিআর জানায়, শনিবার তিনি ঢাকা ত্যাগ করে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের উদ্দেশ্যে রওনা দেন। সফরকালে জর্জিয়া স্টেট ক্যাপিটল-এর উদ্যোগে জাতিসংঘ শান্তিরক্ষা মিশনে বাংলাদেশি শান্তিরক্ষীদের অবদানের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ একটি সম্মাননা প্রস্তাব গ্রহণ করবেন। এছাড়া তিনি সিনেট চেম্বারে একটি বিশেষ লেকচার অনুষ্ঠানে অংশ নেবেন এবং যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সংশ্লিষ্ট প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে দ্বিপাক্ষিক বৈঠকেও অংশগ্রহণ করবেন বলে জানা গেছে।
