Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has left for Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj. The army chief departed for Saudi Arabia with his wife on Friday, May 22, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations . He is visiting Saudi Arabia as a royal guest at the invitation of the Saudi government, the ISPR said. During his visit, he will complete the Hajj rituals in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah . The army chief is scheduled to return to the country on June 1 after performing Hajj .

বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর প্রধান জেনারেল ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান পবিত্র হজ পালনের উদ্দেশ্যে সৌদি আরব সফরে গেছেন। শুক্রবার (২২ মে) স্ত্রীকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে তিনি সৌদি আরবের উদ্দেশ্যে দেশ ত্যাগ করেন। আন্তঃবাহিনী জনসংযোগ পরিদপ্তর (আইএসপিআর) এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে। এতে বলা হয়, সৌদি সরকারের আমন্ত্রণে রাজকীয় অতিথি হিসেবে তিনি এ সফরে গেছেন। সফরকালে পবিত্র নগরী মক্কা ও মদিনাতে হজের আনুষ্ঠানিকতা সম্পন্ন করবেন সেনাপ্রধান। আইএসপিআর জানায়, হজ পালন শেষে আগামী ১ জুন দেশে ফেরার কথা রয়েছে সেনাপ্রধানের।
