Army chief orders not to use force unnecessarily

Army chief General Waqar Uz Zaman has ordered army members to behave professionally and not use force unnecessarily in the ongoing joint operation to control the law and order situation in the country.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the closing and award distribution ceremony of the Bangladesh Army firing competition organized at the Savar Cantonment firing range on Monday (February 24) morning. Earlier, the army chief distributed awards among the winners.

The army chief said that the army is now working in the field in the interest of the country and the nation. We thought that we would finish the work quickly and return to the cantonment, but the work has been going on for a long time, so we have to be patient and complete the work with professional responsibility, so we have to continue working for the country and the nation and until we get an elected government in the country, we have to continue working to maintain peace and order. We have to keep this in mind that disorderly work cannot be done while performing our duties, and force cannot be used while working, which we have to do otherwise we have to use force.

He also said that at this time, he instructed to deal with the situation with patience.

General Waqar Uz Zaman also said that firing skills are very important for an army member to achieve professional excellence. It is an integral part of basic training. Every year this competition plays an important role in improving the desired standards of the army members.

The Army Chief distributed prizes among the winners at the event. The champion of the competition was 33 Infantry Division and the runner-up was 7 Infantry Division. Special awards were given to the three best shooters of the army. At that time, GOC of 9 Infantry Division Major General Moin Khan and senior army officials were present. After the award distribution, the army chief himself participated in the firing and fired a few rounds at specific targets.
