Army Chief urges public to ignore rumors

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has called on the public not to pay attention to rumors, assuring that the Bangladesh Army is fully committed to supporting the interim government’s initiatives.

He made the remarks on Monday (September 1) after a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, where the upcoming national elections and the army’s role in maintaining order were discussed.

"The force is determined to ensure the success of all government programmes," the Army Chief said.

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus stressed the need for a clear command structure and close coordination among all forces to strengthen the army’s role in election preparations.

He reaffirmed his pledge to deliver an election marked by high voter turnout, participation of new and women voters, and international confidence in safety and security.
