Arrest all drug traders: Land Minister to police at Rajshahi seminar
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has instructed authorities to take action against 1,000 crorepatis involved in the drug trade in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj.
He gave the directive while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'Protection under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act: Challenges and Remedies' at Nanking Durbar Hall in Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon, June 13.
The minister said that in the last 20 years, 1,000 individuals have become crorepatis solely through drug dealing in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj. He issued strict orders to the police to immediately identify these drug traders and bring them under the law.
"Rajshahi was always ahead in development and achievement. But everything has been destroyed in the last 20 years," the land minister said in his speech. He called upon law enforcement agencies to forget past mistakes and work with renewed vigour.
The seminar was organised by the DIG Office of Rajshahi Range Police and chaired by Rajshahi Range DIG Dr Mohammad Shahjahan.
Other speakers at the event included Rajshahi-3 constituency MP Advocate Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon, Naogaon-3 constituency MP Md Fazle Huda, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr A N M Bazlur Rashid, and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Mohammad Foyezul Kabir.
