The International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against four individuals, including Awami League Joint General Secretary and former MP Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, over three charges of crimes against humanity, including the killing of six people in Kushtia during the July mass uprising. Tribunal-2 Chairman Nazrul Islam Chowdhury announced the move on Monday.

The other three accused are Kushtia District Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, District Secretary Azgar Ali, and City General Secretary Ataur Rahman Khan Ata. All four are currently absconding. The tribunal has ordered that the fugitives appear before the court by October 14.

Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam said the tribunal accepted three charges against Hanif: giving provocative speeches alongside Obaidul Quader during the July movement, conspiring to kill protesters through meetings, and involvement in the killing of six people in Kushtia.

Tajul Islam emphasized that no one will escape justice for crimes against humanity. “The trial for the July killings will conclude within the nation’s desired timeframe. There is no room for doubt regarding justice,” he said. He also noted that the investigation report on the enforced disappearance case will be submitted to the prosecution later this week.
