শেরপুরের ঝিনাইগাতী উপজেলার হাতিবান্ধা ইউনিয়নের গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক শাখায় দুর্বৃত্তরা আগুন দিয়েছে। বুধবার ভোরে ঘটলেও ঘটনাটি প্রকাশ্যে আসে বৃহস্পতিবার। পুলিশ ও স্থানীয় সূত্র জানায়, ভোররাতে একদল অজ্ঞাত ব্যক্তি শাখা অফিসের সামনে আগুন লাগায়। পরে তারা প্রধান ফটক এবং সাইনবোর্ডেও অগ্নিসংযোগ করে। ব্যাংকের মূল দরজায় আগুন ধরানোর চেষ্টা করলেও সফল হয়নি। এ সময় তারা প্রধান উপদেষ্টার বিরুদ্ধে স্লোগান দেয় বলে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে। ঘটনাটির ভিডিও পাওয়া গেলেও কোনো ব্যক্তিকে শনাক্ত করা যায়নি। বুধবার রাত সাড়ে ৯টার দিকে ঝিনাইগাতী থানার ওসি ব্যাংক কর্মকর্তাদের নিয়ে ঘটনাস্থল পরিদর্শন করেন। কর্মকর্তারা জানান, অগ্নিকাণ্ডে বড় ধরনের ক্ষতি হয়নি এবং ঘটনার বিষয়ে তারা ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্তৃপক্ষকে অবহিত করেছেন। ঝিনাইগাতী থানার ওসি মো. আল-আমিন বলেন, হাতিবান্ধা শাখায় সামান্য আগুন লাগিয়ে আতঙ্ক সৃষ্টির চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে। কারা এ ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত, তা খতিয়ে দেখা হচ্ছে। শনাক্ত হলে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনি ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।
