Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui made BGB DG

Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has bern made the Director General (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
He took the charge from outgoing BGB chief Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan on Monday, 5 February, afternoon.
He served as Military Training Department at Bangladesh Army Headquarters, Dhaka and was the chairman of Army Sports Control Board prior to his new assignment.

Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui joined Bangladesh Military Academy in the 27th BMA Long Term Course and was commissioned in the Artillery Corps of the Bangladesh Army on December 20, 1992.

He completed different professional training courses at home and abroad. He received trainings from School of Artillery in Fort Sill, USA, Defence Services Command and Staff College in Mirpur, Dhaka, Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, India and National Defence College in New Delhi, India. He graduated from Chittagong University, completed Masters of Defense Studies (MDS) from National University, MSc and done his MPhil from University of Madras in India. He had completed his MBA from Bangladesh University of Professional (BUP).

He has held various command, staff and instructor duties in various assignments at home and abroad. He served in 5 artillery units and commanded 1 artillery regiment and 2 artillery brigades.

He also served as an Instructor of Bangladesh Military Academy, Staff Officer Grade-3 of an Infantry Division, Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade and Staff Colonel of an Infantry Division.
Major General Ashraf participated in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission Ethiopia (UNMEE) and Sudan (UNMIS) and completed the mission with great success. He also served as Force Generation Officer in Peacekeeping Mission Operations (UNDPKO) at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, USA.
