Urea production has started again in Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory after being closed for 10 months due to various reasons including gas crisis. The factory started producing urea fertilizer around 8.00 pm on Friday (December 15).

According to the factory officials, the production of fertilizer in the Ashuganj Fertilizer & Chemical Company Limited has been stopped for 80 days from March 1 of this year to carry out renovation work. The factory was supposed to start production of fertilizer on May 20 after completing the renovation work. However, due to the non-availability of gas supply, the factory could not return to production even after renovation. On the other hand, the workers started the movement to demand the factory to be started soon.

In this regard, the Managing Director of Ashuganj Fertilizer & Chemical Company Limited, Sunil Chandra Das, told the media, "The factory has returned to production after about 10 months after overcoming all the complications. Checking to see if there is a problem with any of the components. Wherever problems are found, action will be taken to rectify them promptly. The factory's engineers are taking care round the clock. Exactly how much fertilizer will be produced cannot be said right now."
