Satkhira police have temporarily suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohibullah for taking part in a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate’s rally while wearing a police uniform.

The suspension was issued on Sunday (December 14) through a letter signed by Jessore Police Superintendent Syed Rafiqul Islam.

Mohibullah, the suspended police officer, who was posted at Jashore Police Lines, had gone on a 15-day leave on November 16 and rejoined duty on December 12.

According to a press release from Satkhira District Police, during his leave, Mohibullah allegedly attended a rally on December 7 at Katia Amtala Mor in Satkhira city, supporting Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Muhaddis Abdul Khalek for Satkhira-2.

Reports indicate that he not only attended the rally in uniform but also performed Islamic songs and delivered a speech.

The incident was reported to the Khulna Range DIG and the police superintendents of Khulna and Jessore. Following the complaint, Mohibullah has been suspended, and disciplinary as well as legal proceedings are underway.
