ASI's pistol snatched by mugger in Narayanganj

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI Lutfar Rahman) of police fell victim to muggers while on duty in Narayanganj city. The muggers looted his government-issued pistol.

The incident occurred around 5:45 am on Monday near the Nagar Bhaban in the Nitaiganj area of Bangabandhu Road.

ASI Lutfar Rahman is posted in Narayanganj District Police. He was on duty at the time of the incident and was in police uniform.

Additional Superintendent of Police (A Circle) Tasmin Akhtar said that while on duty, he temporarily separated from his team to use the toilet. At that moment, three muggers blocked his motorcycle, snatched the government pistol from him and fled quickly.

Locals have alleged that this area of Nitaiganj is prone to mugging. Despite the presence of Narayanganj City Corporation's Nagar Bhaban and two government hospitals here, ordinary pedestrians often fall victim to mugging.

Additional Superintendent of Police Tasmin Akhtar said multiple police teams are working to identify and bring those involved in the mugging and weapon looting incident under the law.
