An attack occurred on the family of Member of Parliament Mufti Amir Hamza on his way to his in-laws' house in Jibannagar from Kushtia. Abu Bakkar, Amir Hamza's brother-in-law and Daily Kalbela's Jibannagar correspondent, and his driver Saddam Hossain were injured in the incident.

The incident took place after Asr prayers at Hasadah Bazar in Jibannagar Upazila on Monday (June 1).

Regarding the attack, Amir Hamza's brother-in-law Abu Bakkar said, "My brother-in-law Amir Hamza was coming to Jibannagar from Kushtia in one car and I and my sister and some others were coming in another car. When we reached Hasadah Bazar, a battery-powered easy bike stopped us. At that time, when the car did not move despite repeated honking, our driver got down and spoke. The easy bike driver expressed his regret. At that time, suddenly some people came from the opposite side of the road and attacked me. They got even angrier when I called MP Amir Hamza a sala and hit him in the face.

He also said that when my sister got out of the car, they abused her and MP Amir Hamza in foul language.

In this regard, Jibannagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Solaiman Sheikh said, "We went to the spot after receiving the news. Currently, the MP and his family members are at the police station."
