Attack on mobile court in Noakhali, magistrate’s car vandalised
A mobile court operation led by the Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Fahim Hasan Khan was disrupted today when vehicle owners and drivers vandalised the magistrate’s car and blocked the Maizdi main road, causing a traffic standstill.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am in front of Noakhali Zilla School while the mobile court was conducting eviction drives against illegal structures and impounding vehicles parked unlawfully along the city roads.
Angered by the seizure of their vehicles, the owners and drivers obstructed the road and attacked the magistrate’s car. Police and army teams arrived promptly at the scene and restored order by 1 PM.
District administration officials stated that designated parking areas for buses, private cars, and microbuses have been allocated in Noakhali, including a section of the new bus stand for private vehicles. However, many drivers continue to park illegally on the main road in front of Noakhali Zilla School, causing persistent traffic congestion despite repeated warnings.
Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Khandakar Istiaq Ahmed said law enforcement acted swiftly upon receiving news of the attack and successfully diffused the situation through dialogue.
